A little about me.....

Brigid "Corny" Cornelius

Hi and welcome to Cooking in Corny's Kitchen.  I'm Chef Brigid aka "Corny".  I'd like to take you on a little journey, and tell you a little about myself!

At 35 years old I changed careers and moved 1,700 miles from home.  To say it's been a crazy roller coaster is an understatement.
At age 25, I graduated from the Vision Academy in Bethlehem Pennsylvania and went on to receive a license in Cosmetology.  I love creating, putting new twist on things.  Making them my own.  Although, I still love hair and makeup, it wasn't the outlet I so desperately needed.
I've always known I made delicious foods and tasty treats, but never thought any more about it.  Until one day, watching my man Gordon Ramsay Ultimate Cookery Course, I decided to make his beef short ribs (don't worry I will be sharing that soon).  It wasn't until the love of my life, Tom, ate it.  When I say his mind was blown, I mean it.  That's when it all clicked. This is it, the outlet I've been so desperately searching for.
So, naturally, I wanted some sort of schooling.  But, I'm a mother.  I don't have time to physically go to school.  Then, just as I'd given up, there it was.  An accredited school that offered online schooling!   Two days later, I was officially enrolled at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder CO.

As things were rockin' and rollin', Tom recieved a phone call that the company he works for was moving to Colorado and they wanted to move us too.  So, after living in NJ/PA all my life, we packed up our UHaul and moved 1,700 miles across the country to start a new chapter.
Upon getting here, I quickly realised cooking and baking will NEVER be the same again!  I had to learn to cook at high altitude.  5,545 above sea level to be exact.  It has had its ups and downs, but nothing would be fun with out some twists a turns along the way.

So, folks here we are.  I decided to start this blog because so many of my friends and family members would ask me for recipes or how to make something, and what better way to share than on the web!
Go put on your aprons and grab a cup of joe.  I'm going to show you my twists on some classics and share some awesome recipes along the way!
Let's do this!
